Day Time, explores vibrant colour and how light interacts with the material and paint. The above photograph was taken with the painting directly in front of a window, allowing the light to shine through the painted trees as it would in a real forest. Instead of having coloured fabric fill negative space in the painting, natural light fills the negative space. Due to the way it is installed, the work explores the 3D nature of the canvas frame and the physicality of the thin fabric and thickly applied paint, similar to an impasto technique.
