This piece was a preliminary work to our Interim Show. The work is painted using acrylic paint, on a bright pink cotton blend fabric. This piece is far from natural looking and plays on the balance of sweet and disturbing. It creates a sensory overload of colour and mark making to depict a chaotic forest scene.

The fabric drapes and hangs, almost as if the trees painted onto it is holding it up. Fabric like this always gets compared to domestic items such as bed sheets or curtains. I think this instantly draws the work into feelings about home, childhood and family. This work reflects on how as children we can perceive and imagine things to be very different to how they actually are.

In relation to the painting style, since the beginning of term brush strokes have become much looser and limited, with care taken to not over paint the image. Mark making remains expressive and abstracted, forming a representation of a forest scene.
